La Senda del Manso

I present myself to this new project as an explorer whose subject will be death.

Understanding death as a very broad concept, the idea is to narrow this approach around how death is understood by a specific character who represents the essence of discipline, dogma or the sacrifice of his daily life for the sake of work: a sort of Japanese salary man who works from Monday to Saturday and hardly has time for anything else but work. In fact, in these profiles of highly stoic ethics, the so-called Karoshi syndrome or death by overwork is famous. The famous alienation from oneself or self-exploitation that philosopher Byung- Chul Han talks about.

The trigger of the research will revolve around the question: where and with what attitude does a paradigmatic character such as the salary man face the moment of death, the one that comes to all of us? How do you understand and what is the meaning and significance of death for someone with these characteristics?
